Portrait of Elizabeth TraillElizabeth Traill read Music at the University of Durham before studying vocal performance within English National Opera’s Baylis Programme. A recent graduate of the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, she was generously supported by a number of scholarships including the RSAMD Trust Fund, the Music Sound Foundation Award and a Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarship. She is currently a Royal Philharmonic Society designated Young Artist and recent winner of the Susan Chilcott Scholarship. Other competition successes include First Prize in the Hampshire Singer of the Year Competition 2005, Second Prize in the intercollegiate Clonter Opera Competition 2006 and Semi Finalist in the 2007 Mozart Singing Competition.

Operatic roles include Adele Die Fledermaus (cover) for Scottish Opera, Königin der Nacht Die Zauberflöte for The Opera Project and Dartington Festival Opera, Queen of the Gypsies The Bohemian Girl for Opera South, Le Fée Cendrillon in a collaboration between the RSAMD, St Petersburg State Conservatoire and the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, Flight Controller Flight (Jonathan Dove), Le Feu and Le Rossignol L’enfant et les sortileges (cover), Damon Acis and Galatea (cover) all for the RSAMD. Also the roles of Adele Die Fledermaus/ Gilda Rigoletto (in excerpt) for Clonter Opera.
